Araujo's 53-point game gives him Liga MB Player of the Week award- May 1, 2023
He had the game-high 53 points adding nine rebounds and seven assists for Quezaltepeque in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Santa Ana (#9, 5-13) with 76-point margin 126-50. Quezaltepeque maintains the 4th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Quezaltepeque will need more victories to improve their 10-8 record. In the team's last game Araujo had a remarkable fifteen three-pointers out of 21 attempts. He just recently signed at Quezaltepeque, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jose Araujo averages this season 17.1ppg. Second best performed player last round was Freddy Asprilla (206-C-1988) of Santiagueno. He is American-Colombian center in his first season at Santiagueno. In the last game Asprilla recorded impressive double-double of 32 points and 25 rebounds. Of course he led Santiagueno to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Chalchuapa (#10, 1-17) 142-111. Santiagueno's 8th position in the standings has not changed. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Santiagueno managed to get this year. Asprilla is a newcomer at Santiagueno and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to another Santiagueno's star - swingman Josh Jackson (203-G/F-1997). Jackson got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds and twelve assists. He was another key player of Santiagueno, helping his team with a 142-111 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Chalchuapa (#10, 1-17). Santiagueno can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Jackson has a very solid season. In 13 games in El Salvador he scored 13.8ppg. He also has 7.8rpg, 3.3apg, 2.2spg and 1.2bpg. Other top performing players last week: 4.
